Moremi Safari
Moremi Game Reserve is located in the heart of the Okavango Delta. Comprised of floodplains, lush waterways, mopane woodland and savannah, this gorgeous area of wilderness is home to an abundance of species.
Elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards, African wild dogs and cheetahs all roam the Okavango Delta, along with many species of antelopes and birds.
Spend at least two full days exploring the diverse habitats of Moremi Game Reserve.
My favourite way to see Moremi is on a mobile camping (non-participatory glamping) safari.
Quick Facts
Location: Moremi Game Reserve is located on the eastern side of the Okavango Delta, a 4 hour drive north from the town of Maun. It’s close in proximity to Khwai and Chobe National Park, meaning the 3 can easily be visited as part of a safari circuit.
Best Time to Visit: Each season offers something different for Moremi but perhaps the most reliable time to visit is between June and October. This is the dry season where there’s minimal rain and so the roads are less likely to be flooded. The annual floodwater from Angola arrives in the Delta around July so visit around or just after this time to see the Delta full of life.
Top Tip: Moremi Game Reserve is vast so in order to access the prime game viewing spots, staying within the reserve is a must. The most cost-effective way to stay is via a mobile camping safari as lodges don’t tailor to budget travellers. Don’t be fooled by the name though, mobile camping safaris are nothing like regular camping as the tents are huge with en suites and proper beds and a team takes care of everything.
