Lake Nakuru Safari
Lake Nakuru National Park is one of the best places in Kenya to see both black and white rhinos. Even better, the park is only a few hours away from Nairobi by road, making it a great addition to your Kenya safari.
As well as rhinos, you can find lions, leopards, buffalos, hippos, giraffes and a vast array of birdlife here. The only member of the Big Five that’s not present is the elephant, as the park isn’t big enough to support them.
Lake Nakuru is one of the most beautiful parks in Kenya and one of the places where you can see flamingos.
The park is small enough that you can visit all it’s highlights in one day.
Quick Facts
Location: Lake Nakuru is 4 hours north of Nairobi by road. Alternatively you can fly here from Wilson Airport which takes an hour. Lake Nakuru is part of the Great Rift Valley.
Best Time to Visit: Lake Nakuru is great to visit throughout the year. However, between June and the end of February provide the best time as there’s less rainfall. Visiting between November and April allows you to see the birds during breeding season when they’re in full plumage.
Top Tip: Consider visiting outside of peak season between June and September in order to beat the crowds. As Lake Nakuru is a year-round destination, the wildlife viewing is similar all year round.
